Some people love New Year’s resolutions and some are in two minds about them. Here at Droplr, we decided to check which side of the fence our team is sitting on and found the chat pretty inspiring. It was a great occasion to talk about our plans or a philosophy of life and to get to know each other a little bit more. We enjoyed the conversation we had and decided to share our thoughts with you. We simply want you to meet the team and get to know us a bit more, too.
Enjoy the read and Happy New Year to you from Droplr team!
“My New Year’s resolution that I started in mid-December is to be more focused on the things that are important to me. I have cut out looking at Google news and social media. It has already made a big difference and I don’t miss them. I have a lot more headspace for reading and thinking!”
Gray Skinner, CEO (i.e Our Ironman in Charge)
“I’ve never been a New Year’s resolution person. I have goals for myself but I never seem to make them around the New Year. I like Nicole’s resolutions though ( Scroll down to find out what she’s said;)), except the part about Yoga. I am the least flexible person in the world.”
Levi Nunnik, CTO & Founder (i.e. The Constant Gardener & The Godfather ;))
“I do not make New Year’s resolutions. If something is important to me I do not wait for the New Year. I just do it.”
Radek Paklikowski, VP Product (The Relentless One)
“My work-related resolution: Focusing on one thing at a time, until it’s completed. My rule of thumb, if you open an email you must take care of it right then and there. It takes more time to mark it as unread, go back later, and then have to open it again when you know you already have done this before. No more time spent wasted. My personal resolution: Taking care of myself more by drinking more water, getting back into yoga, and reading books instead of looking at social media.”
Nicole Pressprich, Customer Success (Doesn’t need an introduction. Our Brand Hero. Period.)
“Read next 40 books in 2018.”
Antoni Orfin, Engineering (Our Selfless Architect. Does the whole serverless magic. A rather succinct type. ;))
“I don’t really make New Year’s resolutions. I think because to me New Years Resolutions hold this view that you will fail at them in month 2 haha but that is just me. Instead, I always have a running list of goals/dreams that I add to pretty often ( I am a list person). My goals for 2018 are to save up to go to Europe again, read more books instead of going on social media (like Nicole) and to visit New York or Chicago.”
Amber Narmore, Sales (A Cycling Enthusiast. Keep your eyes wide open when in Paris! )
“I’ve never been into making resolutions by the end of a year. All the decisions that have changed my life to some, even minimal, degree I’ve made around May, June, and July. This year something has changed, though. I’m determined to make it. So, fingers crossed! 😉 What I’m going to do for sure is spend more time at the gym and take greater care of my health. Aside from that, I want to spend less time on Facebook. Who knows, maybe in a year I’ll decide to remove my FB account for good. Is there anything else? Well, I’m sure some resolutions will come up in time. I’ll probably think of something new to put my mind to, around May. ;)”
Mateusz Dembek / Dembsky, UI & Web Design (The Commander of Pixels in Chief ;))
“2017 was a whole lot of change for me. So this year is going to be about simply living life and making the most of everything I’ve been working to create for myself and my wife. I think this will be a great year.”
John Smrekar (Our Robinson Crusoe Loves piece and quiet, within reason.)
“I’m not the person who makes resolutions for New Year (they don’t work usually anyway so :P) but this time I told myself to manage my time better and move forward all my personal projects. I hope it will work out!”
Peter Krolik, Engineering (To coding turned he. Ahhrrrrr! )
“It’s not actually my New Year’s resolution but I can say that I plan to release an app which I’m working on for a while and try to update it frequently. It helped me to learn and understand so many things by far. I hope it’s going to keep up that way. I would also like to go back to playing drums!”
Rafał Swietek, Engineering (The Ultimate Bugbuster. No kidding.)
“I don’t have New Year’s resolution because my personal or work-related growth does not follow calendar time but I do believe in setting goals and it is good to have them.”
Kasper Slusarczyk, Engineering (Need some musical inspiration? The go-to guy!)
“I don’t have New Year resolutions. I don’t know what I’m going to do tomorrow. I follow a simple rule: Live now, don’t turn back and don’t go too far into the future. What I know now is that I want to be one of the best developers in the world. I want to develop myself and that is my main focus.”
Jakub Kordek, Engineering (Call him Jobs. Steve Jobs. Or… Stevie Wonder, if you prefer ;))
“I don’t typically have New Year’s Resolutions but my main goal every day is to try and be consistent. Consistent with work, training, and being myself.”
Andy Jobin, Sales (The Whale Whisperer )
“Eat healthier, workout harder, travel more, and read 24 books.”
Filip Zaleski, Marketing (Hacks growth like a pro.)
“I used to be in two minds about the whole idea of New Year’s resolutions, Some time ago I changed my way of thinking about them. I don’t plan things like taking up a new hobby or cutting down on this and that anymore. Instead, I think what I want to change about myself. This could be being more patient with people, stress less, or… This year, I choose to stress less about the little problems I have and focus more on the people around me, instead.”
Urszula Kotowska, Marketing (I? … Why don’t you ask the guys? ;))
