Google Docs Competitors

  • Microsoft Word

Microsoft Word is Google Doc’s most traditional competitor. The biggest difference between the two apps is Microsoft Word is an application that needs to be downloaded to a local computer and is not accessed through the internet. This has both positives and negatives. Because it is a local computer app, internet connectivity is not required to use it, but simultaneously users do not have the same set of sharing and collaboration tools that an online application can give you. Microsoft Word pricing starts at $69.99 a year and includes all Office 365 applications.

  • Quip

Quip is an application that is mainly geared towards companies and individuals focused on customer support processes. The application offers a large variety of tools and features to help users create a more efficient and productive workplace. The app is concerned specifically on productivity and not so much the average everyday use. Quip pricing starts at $10 a month.

  • Pages

Pages is the Mac OS systems’ equivalent to Microsoft Word. It is an app that comes pre-installed on all Mac computers and is an easy to use word processing tool. In addition to its versatile blank canvas, Pages also offers users a variety of templates to choose from when writing. Similar to Microsoft Word, the application does not live online and therefore does not have the same cloud sharing capabilities. Pages is free for all Mac users.
