GIFs are among the most important ways to communicate over the internet in 2022. They can capture a feeling or idea in a single clip and are typically used to visually express reactions online. They can also be used to create quick instructional videos for businesses, educators, and freelancers. GIFs are especially widespread on the communication platform Discord since gamers, interest groups, and fan clubs frequently use them to quickly communicate their thoughts and feelings with one another. It is important to be able to quickly look up the right GIFs for Discord to share with your server.

Thankfully, there are several easy ways to find and use GIFs for Discord. Let’s go over 3 ways to find cool GIFs for Discord and use them to start using Discord like a pro.

How to Find GIFs for Discord

1. Use Discord GIF Picker

Search and pick a GIF of cats on Discord GIF Picker

The easiest way to find Discord GIFs is by using Discord GIF Picker. This helpful tool is available on the desktop app on the right side of the chat box. GIF Picker provides a huge collection of regularly updated GIFs from various sources sorted into various categories based on subject or emotion. You can browse through categories to select your perfect GIF or search for one in the search bar. You can also favorite a Discord GIF by clicking on the star in the top right corner of the GIF, thus allowing you to quickly access them again in your Favorites collection.

On mobile, you can insert a GIF from your keyboard’s GIF collection into a text channel. These GIFs take longer to load onto the platform, but will still be embedded in the channel so all your friends will be able to view it.

2. Insert Online GIF

Can’t find a specific GIF in the GIF picker? No worries! Discord supports GIFs from most websites. Simply find your preferred GIF on a website such as GIPHY and either copy and paste its associated link into a text channel or save it to your desktop. If you choose the latter, you can then upload the GIF to Discord by clicking on the + button on the left side of the chatbox, then clicking “Upload a File”. Here, you can add a comment to go with your file or mark it as a spoiler. Any files marked as a “spoiler” on Discord must be clicked on to be viewed.

3. Make Your Own GIF

Finally, you can make your own GIF using a GIF maker and then share it on Discord in the same way as above. For example, you can use Droplr to create your own GIFs, as shown below.

Once you have made your GIF, you can share it on Discord either by downloading it to your computer and then uploading it or via short link. Droplr automatically saves all GIFs, screenshots, and screen recordings to the Cloud and generates a tiny URL for each stored file. You can paste this link into Discord (or another platform) to automatically display the associated screen share in the platform. For more information on how to share files with Droplr on Discord, see the video below.

Discord Nitro GIFs

If you have a Discord Nitro subscription, there are additional GIF features that you can access. With Discord Nitro, you can create or upload animated emojis and an animated profile picture. So, you can have a GIF as a profile picture! Discord Nitro also comes with bigger upload limits, so you never have to worry that your GIF file size is too big.
