Droplr

Droplr Logo

Best for individuals, businesses, and enterprises who frequently take screenshots and screen recordings. Everything is saved in the cloud with a link you can share with anyone, anywhere. Droplr is an all-in-one solution with advanced features, integrations, and complete security coverage.

Features:

  • 15+ Integrations with product management, customer service, messaging, file sharing, and image editing apps.
  • Photoshop Integration: Unique to Droplr. Upload and share Photoshop files directly to the Droplr cloud as a .png file. This makes it easy to share photo edits and graphic designs with others via Droplr’s link sharing feature.
  • Slack Integration previews your screenshots right in Slack and lets you edit Droplr screenshots shared on Slack from your browser. You can save images on Slack directly to your Droplr account.
  • Microsoft Teams Integration: Has your team opted for Microsoft Teams over Slack? If so, you can still integrate Droplr with your new team messaging app. Like Slack, Droplr’s Microsoft Teams extension lets you easily share images from Droplr to Microsoft Teams and save images from Microsoft Teams on your Droplr account.

CloudApp

CloudApp Logo

Best for businesses and enterprises that need an easy-to-use tool for screenshots and screen recordings. CloudApp’s integrations make it a good choice for teams looking for an app that integrates with the work productivity apps they already use.

Features:

  • Over 30 Integrations with product management, customer service, file sharing, blogging, and sales management apps.
  • Product Management Options: CloudApp integrates with product management apps, allowing for easy image sharing and annotating among teammates.
  • Zapier Integration: Unique to CloudApp. Connects CloudApp with thousands of other apps so you can build workflows between CloudApp and other apps.
  • Slack Integration lets you share images and videos directly with Slack from the annotation window.
  • Integrations Unique to CloudApp such as WordPress, Adobe XD, and Drift. These integrations let you easily share images between the two apps.

Snagit

techsmith snagit

Best for business teams and product demonstrations that frequently use visual instructions using screenshots and screen recordings. Snagit provides templates, annotations, and a step tool that is a good solution for how-to guides and tutorials needed to onboard employees or explain products and services to customers.

Features:

  • Integrates or Directly Shares with 15 Apps and Websites including popular social media sites and file-sharing platforms.
  • Share with Other TechSmith Products: Integrations with TechSmith Screencast, TechSmith Camtasia, and Techsmith Knowmia.
  • Few Integrations compared to Droplr and CloudApp; no integrations with work productivity, customer service, or image editing apps. The internal Techsmith Snagit editor does allow for screenshot annotations, however.
  • Some Microsoft Office Compatibility: The Snagit app doesn’t integrate with all Microsoft 365 apps, but does at least with Powerpoint, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Gmail Integration: Send images directly to email for easy sharing. However, you have to host all images on a computer or configure your own cloud account on Dropbox or Screencast.
  • No Snagit Browser Plugin: Unlike the other apps on this list, Snagit does not have a chrome extension or another Snagit browser plugin.

Screencast-O-Matic

Screencast-o-matic Logo

Best for people who want to record and edit creative screen recordings for individual use. Screencast-O-Matic provides a number of audio editing options, making this application a good fit for those looking to create narrated videos, how-to’s, and tutorials.

Features:

  • Share Screenshots with Students with integrations for Blackboard, Moodle, Google Classroom, Schoology, Desire2Learn, and Canvas.
  • Integrations Unique to Screencast-O-Matic such as Olark, Prezi, and Moodle so you can share your images in a number of settings.
  • Slack and Microsoft Teams Integrations so you can share your images easily with co-workers.
  • Powerpoint Integration: Screencast-O-Matic does not integrate fully with Microsoft 365, but images can be imported directly into Microsoft Powerpoint.

Picking the Best Screencap App

Though Droplr, CloudApp, Snagit, and Screencast-O-Matic are all excellent screenshot tools, there are some clear differences in quality with regards to integrations. CloudApp and Screencast-O-Matic by far have the most integrations with other apps, including with highly-rated tools that no other screenshot tool integrates with. However, Droplr has several unique integrations of its own, making it the best choice for customer service teams, graphic designers, and teams that conduct frequent customer interactions. While Snagit impresses in other areas, it is not recommended for individuals and teams who prioritize 3rd party integrations mainly because it is not natively cloud-based and an additional Techsmith product, Screencast, must be purchased in order to access cloud sharing and storage.
